From Inhabitat.com: Artist Michael Rakowitz designed a smart urban shelter that uses excess heat from building HVAC systems to keep the homeless warm. Inspired by Bedouin tents that respond to different kinds of desert winds, The ‘paraSITE’ shelters are simple, effective and cost under $5. Over the course of 17 years, Rakowitz has built at least 60 shelters in various cities he’s lived in and plans to develop this project further.

It began as a family talent show act. Pierce Thiot started by seeing how many pencils he could stick in his beard (and have them stay!) for the amusement of his mom at Christmas. Since then, he and his wife, Stacy, have been answering the question, "Will it Beard?"  documenting other things ranging from dry spaghetti to Mr. Potatohead parts to plastic dinosaurs (above) that stay in the beard via Instagram and Tumblr. Follow the link above to see more.

I suppose it was the next inevitable pet shaming step. After the popularity of dog and cat shaming (for those not in the know, pet "shaming" involves taking pictures of pets with signs announcing their crime and posting them publicly). Fiber artist and backyard poultry keeper Amy Rawson posted a set of photos of her chickens, roosters and turkeys wearing signs announcing their misdeeds. I can't wait for alpaca shaming. Clearly, that is what must come next, if it hasn't already.
