Homework -- 5/1

NOTE: Students are to always have their current independent reading book with them in school. They should be reading for 20 minutes daily in their independent reading book. Language Arts Note: Have L.A. journal in class with you all the time. Assigned today: For Monday, 5/4, read any of Emily D. you have missed. Previously assigned/still due: None Math Assigned today: 7th and 8th Grade: For Monday, 5/4 -
  • Have 2 calculators with you.
  • Have your name on both.
  • On one also write "Math Class." This one will remain with Jane for the rest of the school year.
  • Calculators are to be 4-operational and have a square root key.
7th Grade: For Monday, 5/4, study all problems reviewed on Th. and Fri. for quiz (problems #16 to #21). (Covering and Surrounding). 8th Grade: For Monday, 5/4, study all problems reviewed on Th. and Fri. for quiz (problems #17 to #21).(Looking for Pythagoras). Previously Assigned/still due: 7th: None 8th: None Note: When needed, you can always get grid paper from the internet. Social Studies Assigned today: None Previously Assigned/still due: None Science Assigned today: Due Monday, 5/4, 7th - complete Lesson 2 (read p. 13, exercises A and B and additional question, "In your own words, describe what the Relative Location of a place means"). Read p. 20 (lesson 4), and answer A and B. Do lesson 5, p. 24, then answer A, B, and C (pp. 25-26). Do all work in spiral notebooks. 8th - complete "Lunar and Solar Eclipse" sketch, with summaries below each sketch. Read the "Solar System" review, then answer questions #1, #3, and #6. For #3 (T/F), correct the false statements. Do all work in spiral notebooks. Previously Assigned/still due: None Spanish Assigned today: 7th Grade: Due Tuesday, 5/5, 5-6 sentences with photo or illustration answering: "What is Cinco de Mayo?" "Where is it celebrated?" 8th Grade Project
  • Write something everyday in your journal (except weekends, unless otherwise arranged with advisor): entries should be dated and focused on how your independent project is going, your feelings about it, challenges, successes.
  • Journals are turned in every Friday morning (onto Marc's table). If we do not have school on Friday, they are turned in at the end of the day on Thursday.
Materials Needed for Homework to be Taken Home:
  • 8th grade - L.A. journal (for project entry)
  • MCAS problems (for Math review)
  • Science 7 - Geography Skills book
  • Science 8 - handouts: "Lunar and Solar Eclipses," and "Solar System Review"
  • Science spiral notebooks
