From nasties like Lyme Disease, the Black Death and all those STIs you heard about in health to benevolent bacteria like those which culture yogurt and bread dough to champions like penicillin and the white blood cell, they've made them macro-sized, cute and cuddly.

General Announcements:
  • If you ever notice something missing or wrong on the blog, comment to let me know about it - I don't always have the whole picture. -Grace
  • Yoga Fridays - For the Fridays until February break, the Prisms should bring comfortable clothing for yoga class in the afternoon, and a mat if you have it. Last week we had enough mats for everyone if the two groups shared, but you may want to label your mat if you want to get the same one back.
  • Wednesday, 2/2: Reception/Celebration of the Prisms' artistic work on the history of the Connecticut River Valley, 6:30-7:15 pm in the Atelier.
  • Eighth Grade Project resource page updated 1/24, including project deadlines through the end of February and downloadable documents. Page will be updated as I get new information.

Math:
  • Grade 7: Due Tues., 2/1: Do #15 on p. 37 according tp directions and rubric criteria. You will need grid paper.
  • Grade 8: Due Tues., 2/1: Complete 2.2 on p. 19 after reading the intro on p. 19. Also, do #4 on p. 24. Meet rubric criteria.
  • Test Mon. 2/7: Math's Mates Midterm 2 Test (covering material from 2.1-2.4) - We will have a review session on Fri., 2.4. You can also email questions whenever to Grace at grace.mrowicki AT gmail.

Language Arts:
  • Group 2: Due Tues., 2/1: Bring more photos for Overlook and/or an object to share (e.g. guitar, seashell collection).
  • Group 1: Due Thurs., 2/3: Have a photo of yourself to leave with Overlook resident. Also, begin gathering photos to show resident.
  • All: Read 20 min per night in independent reading book. Be ready to share reading via journal entry.

Social Studies:
  • Due Tues., 2/1: Asian Mapwork: Color geographic regions covered by different schools of Buddhism on map provided as follows:
    • Therevada (orange): SE Asia — #6, #13, ½ of Sri Lanka
    • Mahayana (yellow): China, Korea, Japan, in SE Asia — #9, #14, #7
    • Tibetan (red): Tibet (½) and #1

Science:
  • Due Wed., 2/2: Read p. 93-98 (1st part of 5.1) in Physical Science textbook and answer #1-4 on separate paper.
  • Due Fri., 2/4: Finish reading 5.1 in Physical Science textbook and answer #5-9 and #10-12 on separate paper.
