General Announcements:
  • If you ever notice something missing or wrong on the blog, comment to let me know about it - I don't always have the whole picture. -Grace
  • Yoga Fridays - For the Fridays until February break, the Prisms should bring comfortable clothing for yoga class in the afternoon, and a mat if you have it. Last week we had enough mats for everyone if the two groups shared, but you may want to label your mat if you want to get the same one back.
  • Tuesday, 2/1: Reception/Celebration of the Prisms' artistic work on the history of the Connecticut River Valley, 6:30-7:15 pm.
  • Eighth Grade Project resource page updated 1/24, including project deadlines through the end of February and downloadable documents. Page will be updated as I get new information.

Math:
  • Grade 7: Due Tues., 1/25: #6 on p. 23. Study the vocab in class notes and scientific notation.
  • Grade 8:
    • Due Tues., 1/25: Graph by hand #2 on p. 10 (table data). Complete all of #3 on p. 11. Study scientific notation for quiz.
    • Retest Wed., 1/26: Continue reviewing material from Moving Straight Ahead. Test will take place after school, so you need to make arrangements to stay after. You will be able to finish the test in time to make the 4:15 bus.
  • All: Math's Mates Mid-term 2 test coming up end of next week or beginning of the following week.

Language Arts:
  • All: Have your LA journal and independent reading book every day.
  • Due Tues., 1/25: Group 2: Turn in recent photo of yourself to leave with Overlook resident. Bring in additional album/collection of photos to share.
  • Due Thurs., 1/27: Grade 8: Bring all research materials to class.
  • Due Fri., 1/28: Have a set of 4x6 index cards, lined on one side
  • Due Mon., 1/31: Have one book related to your research topic.

Social Studies:
  • Nada

Science:
  • Due Tues., 1/25: Side-by-side ½-page colored pencil illustrations of combustion and photosynthesis, to be completed on white, unlined paper.

A Dinosaur's Life


Long-exposure photograph of Diplodocus skeleton in the Museum of Natural History. Kind of puts the notion of time in relation to dinosaurs in perspective.
