The Geothermal Ramifications of Dinosaur Farts

A team of British biologists theorize that giant, herbivorous dinosaurs like Apatosaurus, pictured above, could have created, by farting alone, 250% of the greenhouse gasses currently being produced by humans over the course of a year. This quantity of methane could have had a significant effect on the global climate. Click to read more about how the researchers made this projection and what it could have meant.

  2. I question their methane-prediciton methods, but nowadays, herbivorous livestock flatulence (i.e. cow farts) account for more than a quarter of the world's methane production. Sauropods are much larger than cows.
