Woodcut Prints

We've heard many times about how it's possible to calculate the age of a tree by counting the rings coming out from its center. Less attention is paid to the degree to which a cross section tells an entire story: lightning strikes, drought, animals. Printmaker Brian Gill goes to great lengths to make sure his prints, made from cross-sections of tree trunks, tell all the story the tree has to tell. Click above to see more of his prints or read more about his process.
