ReplyDeleteDoes it have to be Day of the Dead food or just Hispanic food?
ReplyDeleteI think I can make Pan De Muerto
ReplyDeleteDo we have to bring a table to hold our alter.
ReplyDeleteThat was me who asked about the table.
ReplyDeleteI can make churros!!!!
ReplyDeletejessie, i think it can be just hispanic food
ReplyDeleteI might be able to make dead bread with Rosie.
ReplyDeleteI can't really think of any thing to make my arch out of.
ReplyDeleteabout how much time will we have to work on our arches on Monday? Will it be a full class?
ReplyDeleteI might be able to make Nachos... :3 i lurvs teh nachos.
ReplyDeleteBella, as long as you have all materials you need , if the whole class period would be useful to you....absolutely. There may be many people working on different parts of their 'ofrenda'.
ReplyDeleteMatt, nachos sound 'delicioso'!
ReplyDeleteDory, I will think of some ideas for you. Maybe I will be able to find some good resources for you. I'll get back to you by tomorrow afternoon. I encourage you to talk to your peers tomorrow, there are some very creative ideas out there!
ReplyDeleteI have a box full of items to use for my ofrenda, my Mom has a blanket from some Spanish speaking country that i can use, and i found a recipe for Calaveras, or Sugar Skulls.
ReplyDeleteP.S.
I Am Ben, B-G, the computer would not let me sign in.
Does anyone have cardboard boxes to spare?? Also any other ideas for how to make tiers would be appreciated!
ReplyDeleteActually, never mind! I found a great source for cardboard boxes if anyone needs them.....there's a bunch of dumpsters in downtown northampton right outside different drummer's kitchen store (across from the post office). Tons of cardboard boxes available!
ReplyDeleteI've finished my calaveras and now I am waiting for the paint to dry. Then I will add the frosting
ReplyDeleteThis is ben it won't let me post my ID.
Will the materials for the arch- wire and stuff- be at school if we bring things to decorate it with? i'm kind of confused about that.
ReplyDeletePlease respond!!!!!!
Should we bring our ofrendas to school on monday? What kind of food should we put on the altar? Hispanic food or food they liked? Are we supposed tp have already written our descriptions on why each item is on our ofrenda?
ReplyDeleteWe should bring our food in wednesday right?
ReplyDeleteDoes everything on the altar have to symbolize something or can some things be just for decoration??
ReplyDeleteDory it's supposed to be either type of food, or both
ReplyDeleteBella the things on your alter can be for decoration too
Is it okay if our arch is not fully completed? because i an going to use flowers on mine but i did not get them because i did not want them to sit until wednesday.

ReplyDeleteFor those of you still wondering what food to bring, I bet there'll be a bunch of dishes that go well with rice and there seems to be a lot of rice fans in the class, so if someone just wanted to bring a *big pot of rice* (maybe lightly seasoned) it would probably go over well.
ReplyDeleteDo we need papel picado on our ofrenda?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeletedo we need fruit, bread AND other foods on our altar? The requirements say we do, but can that be fruit, bread, OR other foods?
ReplyDeleteDory- you need to have it, but it doesn't have to be on your altar... it can be strung up around or above it.
ReplyDeleteI think that I can bring rice.
ReplyDeleteWhat time does the party start, where do they sell pan de los Muertos? and is it OK if my Ofrenda has four tiers?
ReplyDeleteYes. Papel picado should also be on your 'ofrenda' , this shouldn't be too hard because we made a lot in class. I will have plenty of seasonal fruits and vegetables to add to the ofrendas if people need. Don't feel you need to buy 'pan muerto', Graces sister is a baker at el jardin and is making some for us. I'm sure there will also be some from your peers. Be sure to bring in your permission slips if your staying after school with me to set up. I will provide a snack for those who are staying, it will be a long day. ¡Hasta manana!
ReplyDeletedoes everybody have to have the list of items on their ofrendas? cuz i have a feeling that lots of people are going to forget
ReplyDeleteDeena, I am not sure what the word thof the stuff on my altar are in spanish, so I put them in ingles is that okay?
ReplyDeleteThat's fine Dory... Perhaps you could add (in pen) the Spanish during class tomorrow.
