Today marks the 46th anniversary of the airing of the first episode of Dr. Who on Nov. 23, 1963 on BBC1. This makes it not only the longest-running science fiction TV show, even with its 16-year hiatus from 1989-2005, but one of the longest running non-news programs in the world.
