What does it mean to be intelligent?
As an extension of the Prisms' exploration of intelligence, beginning with a self-assessment based on Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences, we are periodically stopping to reflect on something we've done, asking, "What does it mean to be intelligent in this context?" Here are some of the observations that Prisms have generated in response to this ongoing question:What does it mean to be intelligent?

- to be thinking ahead/planning

- Tues., 9/14: After praticing public speaking in presenting summer reading project
- pays attention to public speaking guidelines
- presents in away that audience will want to pay attention.
- to be calm, collected and poised
- pay attention to presenter
- listens/takes in what's said and asks questions
- tries to take a lot into your head so you can use information later
- is attentive in a way that makes speaker want to keep speaking
- asks appropriate questions
- at least pretend you're interested

- know your own limits
- to go beyond what you're comfortable with/take risks
- to watch where you're going
- to be responsible/be safe in environment
- don't do more than facilitators tell you to do

- be there for classmates/teammates - physically present and emotionally present (cheering on)

- get enough sleep so that you're physically ready
- respect the materials at the camp
